For the next several weeks, Sherri Angels is exhibiting her artwork at Vineyard on The Square. There will be a reception on December 19th from 6:30pm to 9:00 pm. She will be on hand to discuss her art with guests. Please join us for a festive evening. About the Artist Most recognized for the unique three-dimensional nature and extravagant rich colors of her paintings, Sherri has worked as a professional artist with diverse artistic media for many years. She has worked in stained glass, pysanky, landscape design, calligraphy and painting, to name a few. Her current work employs an amalgamation of her skills including painting, sculpting, woodworking and design. Her wood frames are handcrafted in her art studio. The frames are then sculpted with various media and painted using a variety of techniques. The resulting art is a fascinating rhythmic flow of colors and textures. Sherri brings a diverse background to her artwork. She is a 6th generation Texan and has lived in and traveled to many places around the world. She has always had a fondness for education. Sherri has attended 10 universities and graduated valedictorian from the University of Florida with degrees in design and plant pathology. In addition to being an artist, she is also a nationally recognized research scientist. While working as a mycologist researching the swamps of Florida, she discovered a new species which expresses properties unique to the mushroom world. She is also a published author and has worked in broadcasting as a news anchor. Sherri has owned several businesses and also worked in industry as the manager of an international research group. Sherri also has an adventurous side. She has rappelled down the side of buildings, jumped out of a plane and worked as a tornado spotter for the National Weather Service. Sherri is a horticultural volunteer for the Texas Park Service leading plant identification and edibility hikes. Her extensive travels have inspired the uniqueness of her work. Time spent in Mexico and Australia has particularly influenced her dramatic interpretations of art. Her unusual background and imaginative nature come together to create distinctive contemporary art that can be found in several countries around the world.
